Top 10 Female Performances of Last Decade

I love making lists, top tens, bottom tens and etc. This is one of my favorite ones Top 10 Female Performances of Last Decade. Why last decade? As a matter of fact, I have seen majority of the movies that premiered during 2000-2009, but I can't say the same about the ones which came out in XX century. So, it would be wiser to choose best from those I've seen. Here are, top female performances of 2000-2009:

What do you think of the list? Whom would you include and exclude?

Just Missing:
  • Nicole Kidman - The Hours
  • Isabelle Huppert - The Piano Teacher
  • Mo'Nique - Precious
  • Penelope Cruz - Volver

Damn, I really need to see Birth. Awesome to see Watts here, her work in MD is my all time favorite performance.

Thanks Margaret. Yes, Birth is one of the greatest movies of Kidman, you'll definitely enjoy it :)

GREAT picks. Kidman's work in Birth really doesn't get discussed nearly as often as it should. She's fantastic there.

Marion in La Vie en Rose is one of my Top 10 female performances of all time. Just... wow.

Totally agree about Kidman, she's brilliant and it's sad she did not get much recognition for this role.

I cannot conceive the notion that Roberts' performance in Erin Brokovich outranks Burstyn's performance in Requiem for a Dream. Just... how? There's great (which was Roberts), and then there's masterful (Burstyn). No comparison really.

well, it's a matter of taste. Roberts is my favorite actress and what I enjoy in her performance is this absolute naturalism and frankness that just always makes me feel good to see her acting.

Maybe the Academy voted for the same reason, I really don't know :)

My second favourite performance of Roberts is Erin Brokovich, so to be honest, if there was ever a performance I wanted her to win an Oscar for, it would be that. Burstyn just broke my heart though... haha

Requiem for a Dream is a heartbreaking piece of work itself and of course, Burstyn is the best thing in it. But my personal choice is and will always be Julia :P
